Disclosure (99-08-C)

For all CME activities, providers must disclose to participants prior to educational activities the existence of any relevant financial or other relationship a faculty member or the provider has with the manufacturer(s) of any commercial product(s) or provider(s) of any commercial service(s) discussed in an educational presentation.

Disclosure of Significant Support (00-03-E)

Disclosure of significant support or substantial financial relationships between presenters and commercial entities is required in relevant situations whether or not there is direct commercial support for the CME activity.

Disclosure (00-03-I)

Faculty Disclosure (00-03-P)

Information that a faculty member has no significant financial relationships to disclose must be provided to the learner.

Faculty Disclosure (00-03-Q)

Information that a faculty member has refused to disclose if there are any significant financial relationships must be provided to the learner.

Faculty Disclosure (04-07-A)

CME Providers with OSMA accreditation (in accordance with ACCME policy) are required to disclose the following information to learners in order to fulfill OSMA’s faculty disclosure requirements:

  1. Faculty member’s name;
  2. Name of the commercial supporter or entity with which the faculty member has the relationship or affiliation; and
  3. Type(s) of relationships.

OSMA requirements for faculty disclosure are applicable to faculty relationships that are in place at the time of the activity or were in place in the 12 months preceding the activity.

Verbal Disclosure (04-07-B)

Providers must be able to supply the OSMA with written verification that appropriate verbal disclosure occurred at a CME activity. With respect to the documentation of verbal disclosure at CME activities:

  1. A representative of the provider who was in attendance at the time of the verbal disclosure must attest, in writing:
    1. That verbal disclosure did occur; and
    2. Itemize the content of the disclosed information (04-07-A); or that there was nothing to disclose (00-03-P); or that the faculty member had refused to disclose (00-03-Q).
  2. The documentation that verifies that adequate verbal disclosure did occur must be complete within one month of the activity.
