Fees for Accreditation (97-06-C)

The OSMA fees for accreditation of providers of CME are established by its Focused Task Force on Accreditation, approved by the OSMA Executive Council and are periodically revised relative to operational costs of the program.

Standard accreditation fees include the Pre-Application fee, Application for Accreditation fee, Annual Report fee, and site surveyor travel expenses. There may be additional fees for the submission of requested Progress Report(s).

The Focused Task Force on Accreditation may evaluate an institution=s accreditation status prior to its designated date for resurvey if interim information indicates that the institution has undergone substantial changes and/or may no longer be in compliance with the Essential Areas, Elements & Policies. In such cases, additional non-standard resurvey fees may apply such as additional site surveyor travel expenses.

Standard accreditation fees will be collected as follows:

The Pre-Application Process

  • Paid by new non-accredited applicants at the time of submission of the Pre-Application
  • Determinants for fee:
    • a flat fee established annually ($100)
    • covers costs for consultative services
    • covers costs for distribution of the OSMA Continuing Medical Education Manual and Accreditation in Ohio - a Guidebook for Providers

The Application Fee

  • Paid by a non-accredited entity at the time the OSMA Application for Accreditation is submitted (varies from $2,500 - $3,500)
  • Paid by an accredited entity when the Application for Accreditation is submitted for re-accreditation
  • Determinants for fee:
    • type/size/structure of institution/organization (for-profit versus not-for-profit)
    • joint sponsorship activities
    • enduring materials activities

The Annual Reporting Fee

  • Paid by all accredited institutions/organizations on an annual basis to be submitted with the Annual Report ($2,000)
  • Determinants for fee:
    • type/size/structure of institution/organizations (for profit versus not-for-profit)
    • paid in addition to the application fee during year of re-accreditation survey

Site Surveyor Travel Expenses: As Incurred

  • Paid by all accredited institutions/organizations following the on-site survey
  • Determinants for fee:
    • as incurred for travel, lodging and meals
