Organized Medical Staff Section
The OSMA is a statewide not-for-profit association that represents 20,000 members in Ohio. Members include: physicians, residents, medical students and practice managers. Collectively we speak as one voice and are dedicated to improving the practice of medicine for you and your patients.
The mission of the Ohio Organized Medical Staff Section (OMSS) is to:
- Provide a representative forum for Medical Staff concerns
- Provide a vehicle for communication among the OSMA, Ohio-OMSS and the AMA-OMSS
- Promote advocacy regarding the delivery of health care
- Provide educational programs to help physicians in delivery of healthcare
The OMSS Vision Statement is: to be recognized as an advocate and resource for physicians.
The OMSS is a representation of medical staffs. We offer opportunities for leadership in organized medicine which is contingent on knowledge and information, advocacy for physicians and patients and communication of medical staff concerns and needs.
The OMSS is dedicated to sharing information both positive and negative with members and patients, utilizing OSMA and AMA-OMSS resources to educate physicians in aspects of leadership, providing commentary regarding field reviews of Joint Commission standards, mentoring other physicians inclusive of young physicians, residents and staff on Medical Staff leadership issues, facilitating and participating in periodic meetings of state, county and local medical societies and seeking hospital and/or medical staff financial support for Ohio-OMSS.
