Aetna's Medicaid Lawsuit Dismissed
Thursday, August 23, 2012A Franklin County judge has dismissed a lawsuit by Aetna Better Health Inc. of Ohio regarding the state’s selection process for Medicaid managed care contracts. Aetna sued the state after the company was left off the final selection of managed care organizations (MCOs) awarded contracts for a revamped Medicaid program despite the fact that Aetna was first announced as an original participant.
The ruling paves the way for the state to continue readiness reviews with the final plans chosen. The plans include Buckeye Community Health Plan, CareSource, Molina Healthcare of Ohio, Paramount Advantage and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Ohio. The state is still targeting Jan. 1, 2013 as the start date for its new managed care agreements.
