AMA Presents Strategic Plan at Annual Meeting

In addition to adopting several new policies, the American Medical Association (AMA) presented its five-year strategic plan on June 16 at the AMA's Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates. The strategic plan has three focus areas: improving health outcomes, accelerating change in medical education and enhancing physician satisfaction and practice sustainability by shaping delivery and payment models.

In other news from the meeting, Denver psychiatrist Jeremy A. Lazarus, MD, was inaugurated as the 167th president of the AMA while Ardis Dee Hoven, MD, an internal medicine and infectious disease specialist in Lexington, Ky., was elected AMA president-elect. A full recap from American Medical News on the AMA meeting is available here.
