Congress Returns from Break with Medicare SGR on the Agenda

Congress has returned to session this week and a House-Senate conference committee is expected to begin meeting soon to resolve outstanding issues on pay roll taxes, unemployment insurance and the scheduled cuts to Medicare fees stemming from the flawed Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula. Without Congressional action, Medicare fees will be cut by 27.4 percent on March 1. The OSMA and the American Medical Association (AMA) continue to urge Congress to provide long-term stability and preserve access to care for seniors by permanently fixing the SGR. OSMA physician leaders will be in Washington D.C. next month to meet with members of the Ohio Congressional Delegation to discuss the importance of fixing the SGR. We need your help to let Congress know how important this issue is to patients and physicians in Ohio. Click here to send a letter to your representatives and tell them to fix the SGR now!
