OSMA Takes on Serious CGS Payment Issues
Thursday, February 23, 2012The OSMA has received numerous complaints from practices across the state regarding errors and long payment delays from CGS, Ohio’s Medicare Part B provider. While the OSMA has identified these two issues as most important to practices, we have received numerous requests for assistance relating to provider enrollment and revalidation issues as well as clarification on current Local Coverage Determinations (LCD) policies established by CGS and how the policies are being applied to physician payment.
The OSMA met with CGS management to identify the various problems practices are encountering and to work with them for resolution. In addition, the OSMA contacted officials with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to make them aware of the complaints and to request their additional assistance. Thus far, the OSMA’s involvement has helped expedite the release of hundreds of thousands of dollars to OSMA member practices.
While some of the payment delays for individual practices have been resolved, we need your continued input and updates. We are requesting that practices contact us regarding your issues and be as specific as possible. Provide the practice’s tax id, National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers of physicians and the corporation and any other detailed information that we can use to resolve issues.
Should you have an occasion(s) to contact CGS customer service or provider enrollment areas for assistance, please document the conversation, the date and who you spoke with each time. This information is extremely helpful in expediting resolution to an issue as well as being able to identify possible misinformation. Information should be emailed to the OSMA’s Sandy Loveland at loveland@osma.org.
