Providers Given More Time to Achieve Stage 2 Meaningful
Wednesday, August 29, 2012The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) has published the final rule for achieving Stage 2 meaningful use per the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs. The Stage 2 final rule gives eligible professionals (EPs) more time to meet Stage 2 criteria. A provider who attested to Stage 1 of meaningful use in 2011 would attest to Stage 2 in 2014, instead of in 2013.
Nearly all of the Stage 1 core and menu objectives are retained for Stage 2. EPs must meet the measure or qualify for an exclusion to 17 core objectives and three of six menu objectives.
A summary of the final rule is available here from CMS. The final rule is available here.
