Ohio Health Information Partnership (OHIP)

On Sept. 9, 2009, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland announced the formation of the Ohio Health Information Partnership (OHIP). Governor Strickland designated the non-profit public-private collaboration as the entity to lead the implementation and support of health information technology throughout Ohio. The initial board of OHIP includes representatives from the OSMA, OHA, OOA, the state of Ohio and BioOhio.

To date, OHIP was chosen to complete a full application to HHS to provide statewide educational assistance to physicians and hospitals as they begin to adopt certified EHR technology in a meaningful way. Also, OHIP will be the statewide entity to oversee a health information exchange that will improve access to data and patient information while at the same time assuring patient privacy.
