OSMA Joins Coalition Opposing Drug Cost Proposal

June 13, 2017

The Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) has joined a coalition of more than 30 organizations representing healthcare professionals, veterans’ groups, and business interests opposed to a November 2017 ballot initiative that would impact prescription drug costs.

The Ohioans Against the Deceptive Rx Ballot Issue coalition aims to inform Ohioans about this deceptive, risky ballot issue that claims to lower prescription drug costs for Ohioans. The OSMA and its partners in the coalition assert that the price controls in this ballot initiative are flawed, unworkable, and could actually lead to higher costs for Ohioans.

Furthermore, if enacted, the drug pricing initiative would lead to bureaucratic delays and potential lawsuits due to its vague language and unclear mandates.
