Preventing Type 2 Diabetes

The Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) is partnering with the American Medical Association (AMA) and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) on a statewide public health campaign to prevent Type 2 Diabetes. With Type 2 Diabetes, the body either resists the effects of insulin or doesn’t produce enough insulin to maintain normal glucose levels. It is the most common form of diabetes in Ohio.

The OSMA, AMA, and NACDD are teaming up to develop a public awareness and physician engagement and education program. By next summer, the OSMA will offer education training, opportunities for physician offices to set up screening and testing procedures, and outreach using social media and OSMA member communication tools.
