Ohio State Medical Association Announces CEO Transition and Initiates Search for Successor

Chief Executive Officer Update:

Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA), the oldest and largest statewide physician association in Ohio, today (Feb. 3, 2026) announced that Todd Baker, Chief Executive Officer, will conclude his tenure with the organization later this year as he follows a planned decision to transition into an independent consulting role.

Mr. Baker has worked at the organization for more than 30 years—serving the last 10 as CEO and leading the association through an ever-changing healthcare landscape in both Ohio and across the country. During his tenure, Mr. Baker advanced physician-led, patient-centered policy priorities, and helped position the organization as a trusted voice on issues impacting the practice of medicine in Ohio.

“Mr. Baker has been a tireless advocate for Ohio’s physicians and the patients they serve,” said OSMA President, Dr. John Bastulli. “We are grateful for his leadership and the strong foundation that has been built. This transition reflects thoughtful planning and positions the association well for the future.”

As part of the transition, Mr. Baker will establish a consulting practice focused on advising organizations, businesses, and associations on advocacy, governance, and organizational strategy. The decision reflects a natural next phase following a long career representing physicians and advocating for Ohio’s patients.

The OSMA’s Board of Directors has initiated a search for the association’s next Chief Executive Officer, seeking an experienced healthcare or association executive with a strong understanding of Ohio’s healthcare policy environment and physician advocacy. The CEO will provide strategic leadership for the association, oversee day-to-day operations, and serve as the primary representative with key healthcare stakeholders.
