Tell Us Your Story

Your experiences matter and can help guide our advocacy. Do you have examples of the impact prior authorization or automatic downcoding has on your practice? Has your ability to care for patients been affected by administrative burden from insurers? Elected officials better understand the complexities of our healthcare system through the lense of real-world impact.

Be a Subject Matter Expert

Do you see something in our priority issues that speaks to your passion or expertise? If you can help us on an issue, we want to hear from you! We’ll put you on our shortlist of coalition members whom we reach out to when we need advocacy support, require feedback, or have questions. Your knowledge on our advocacy issues is valuable!

Join an Advocacy Leader Committee

Our advocacy leaders meet roughly three times a year (virtually) to provide expertise on legislative bills and regulatory rules. There will also be times between meetings where staff will send committee members language for immediate feedback or need support providing responses to policy makers.

  • Primary Care & Mental Health Advocacy
    • This committee includes primarily family practice, pediatric, OBGYN, psychiatric, and addiction medicine members—focused on primary care, public health and topics focused on improving Ohio’s health outcomes, as well as a variety of policies related to mental health and addiction.

  • Specialty Care
    • This committee includes primarily surgical and other non-primary care specialties (such as plastic surgery, orthopedics, general surgery, gastroenterology, anesthesia, ophthalmology, dermatology, emergency medicine, radiology, rheumatology, etc.) covering the topics facing these specialties.

Medical students, please note:
Two medical student representatives are selected by the OSMA Medical Student Section to serve on each subcommittee for a term of one year. These selections are made at the OSMA MSS Annual Meeting, typically held in February. Any medical students filling out this interest form to participate will have their name and info provided to MSS leadership before the next yearly meeting to be considered.
