Our Foundation’s Summer Scholars program awards $2,500 stipends to medical students across Ohio’s 7 medical schools—empowering students to pursue meaningful internships that would otherwise be unpaid.

Adeline's research at NEOMED aims to develop a tool for optimizing opioid prescriptions for cancer patients in rural Northwest Ohio, balancing pain management with preventing over-prescribing in an under-served community.

Sarah's internship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital investigates the impact of sex on muscle development following brachial plexus injury in children, aiming to identify more effective, targeted therapies for this disabling condition, particularly considering potential differences in outcomes for girls.

Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine - Dublin

Ali's internship with the Nationwide Children's Hospital STREAM Project, under Dr. Mahan and Dr. Young, focuses on improving physician mental health and resilience through a virtual curriculum, particularly for doctors in under-served or rural areas and those from BIPOC communities.

Sophia's work with SOAR-net, under Dr. Pascoe, focuses on community-based pediatric health outcomes, and this funding will support the presentation of their Ohio-based research at a national PBRN conference in Virginia.
